WELCOME, WEARY TRAVELER

“DIAMOND HEAD & HER LIGHTHOUSE”

I took it with my drone and was just in time too; the sun peeked of the clouds for mere seconds that evening and lit up the side of this majestic crater. I love how expansive it feels; the waves lend a sense of scale that I just can’t get enough of.

Diamond Head Crater, located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii, is an iconic volcanic tuff cone formed around 300,000 years ago. Known locally as Lēʻahi, the crater derives its name from British sailors who mistook glimmering calcite crystals on its slopes for diamonds. The site offers breathtaking views of Honolulu and the Pacific Ocean, accessible via a popular hiking trail that ascends to the summit. Once a strategic military lookout, its summit houses historical bunkers and a Fire Control Station built in 1911. Today, Diamond Head is a symbol of Hawaii’s natural beauty and cultural history, attracting visitors worldwide.
